What We Believe

Evangelical Baptist Church upholds the 1689 London Baptist
Confession of Faith.

Our Beliefs

THE WORD OF GOD

We believe that the Bible is God’s revelation to mankind. In the Bible God has spoken (Heb. 1:1-2). God is omniscient, truthful, and cannot lie or make mistakes. In view of this, we believe the Bible is inspired by God, infallible, inerrant, and authoritative. God has given to us in His word all that we need for faith and practice (2 Tim. 3:16-17; 2Pet. 1:3). We are committed to glorifying the Triune God who has revealed Himself to us in the Bible (1 Cor. 10:31).

THE LORD’S DAY

We believe Sunday is the Lord’s day, the day when the church must gather for worship. (Rev. 1:10; Acts 20:7; Heb. 10:25). The apostle Paul told us how we must conduct our worship (1Tim. 3:14-15). When we gather to worship our Triune God, we sing hymns of praise to God; we pray; we read the Scriptures publicly; we celebrate the Lord’s Table; we worship God through the giving of tithes & offerings; and we worship God through the preaching of God’s word. The strength of our church is expository preaching. We are committed to Biblically ordered worship (1Cor. 14:40).

THE RETURN OF JESUS CHRIST

We believe in the second coming (visible return) of the Lord Jesus Christ (John 14:3; Acts 1:11; 1Thess.4:13-18). We believe in the resurrection of all believers in Christ unto eternal glory (2 Thess. 1:10; Matt. 25:34). We believe in the resurrection of all who did not believe in Christ unto final judgment and condemnation to eternal punishment (Acts 17:30-31; Matt.25:41,46).
